Breaking News: Disabled pedestrian struck while crossing South Sixth Avenue

Police looking for suspect vehicle that fled scene at high rate of speed.

Police are looking for a dark-colored, possibly Mazda sedan, that hit a pedestrian crossing South Sixth Avenue and fled the scene at a high rate of speed. The vehicle was last seen heading north on South Fifth Avenue.

At approximately 10:30 a.m. a South Tucson police officer made a routine traffic stop on South Sixth Avenue just north of 31st Street. During the stop the officer heard a collision and looked north to see a disabled elderly male being struck by the dark colored vehicle.

The elderly male and his assistive walker were thrown into the air by the collision. The victim was taken to Universal Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.

Anyone with information is asked to call 911 or 88-Crime and reference South Tucson case number 1903280001. Pima County Sheriffs are assisting in the ongoing investigation.
