Ready to run, leap, and throw? Tucson Parks and Recreation hosts summer track and field and road racing for kids and adults

Starting Tuesday June 4, Tucson Parks and Recreation is giving kids and adults many opportunities to compete with fellow sprinters, throwers and jumpers in track and field events and long-distance runners in road races.

All track and field competitions will be at Drachman Stadium, located at 501 S. Plumer Ave. and events include long jump, turbo javelin (18 and under), shot put, 50 meter dash (5 and under), 100, 200 and 400 meter dash, 800, 1600, 3200 meter runs, 4 x 100 relay, and 4 x 400 relay.

Long-distance runners will have their first opportunity to road race with fellow competitors on Thursday June 6 at Reid Park, 900 S. Randolph Way. This will be the first of seven events that are being held at various locations in town. Events include 1-mile, 2k and 5k runs.

All events cost $3 for competitors under 18 years of age and $4 for those over 18. See the full schedules for both track and field and road races below. Registration for all events begins at 5:30 p.m.

Track and Field:

Tuesdays – June 4, 11, 18, 25, and July 2, 9, 16, 23 at Drachman Stadium.

Road races:

June 6 – Reid Park, 900 S. Randolph Way

June 13 – Freedom Park, 5000 E. 29th St.

June 20 – Lakeside Park, 8201 E. Stella Road

June 27 – Kennedy Park, 3700 S. Mission Road

July 11 – Lincoln Park, 4325 S. Pantano Road

July 18 – Reid Park, 900 S. Randolph Way

July 25 – Freedom Park, 5000 E. 29th St.
